Day 8 - 17.02.26 - Preperations

Well its been a while - its a bit unusual to try write this so long (almost 3 months afterwards), but maybe in a way its good - a chance to stop and look back, to re-process using images and location data.

So Day 8 I have 15 photos in my photo roll - for a day you're on holdiay thats not many! Most of those are similar/the same. Most are of Kirstine and Mark, mentioned in my previous post - the rest are random/don't ring any bells... A bunch of black dress shoes!!??!!

Today was all about getting things ready for the official part of the trip. We had purchased a bunch of things in NZ, but due to the circumstances we were buying more things while in the Philipines. We headed out of the hotel at our usual late morning time, passed Kirstine and Mark and stopped for our usual chat. It was around lunch time and we agreed to get them some McDonalds.

We headed off to the McDonalds just across the street. At the intersection there was a bunch of kids trying to sell small cloths - they looked like the ones you might use to polish/dry your car after giving it a wash. The kids followed us into McDonalds hoping to get something to eat. We got htem some nuggets, and also got the items for Kirstine and Mark and delivered it back to them - they were very greatful.

We then we headed off to the mall to get some things for the kids - by now we had a pretty good idea of what was needed to fill out the bags, so we went to Toys R us. We did get quite a collection, and we were being watched quite carefully by a bunch of staff - We assumed they wanted to make sure that we didn't run off with everything in our basket?

We headed back to the hotel, took some photos with Kirstine and Mark (the ones we later printed and gave back to them), and finished up the bags for the kids, as well as tried to sort out what should go in which suitcases. We'd accumalated more things, both for the kids, and also things to take home, so it was a bit of a challenge to re-pack the suitcases in an orderly fashion.

Tomorrow was moving day - we were off to a different hotel where we'd be staying for the official tearfund part of the trip. We'd said our goodbyes to Kirstine and Mark, as we would likely not see them int he morning.
