Written a few days before 5th February

Approx 1 year and 10 months later I am getting ready to go back to Cebu in the Philippines, this time with Christine which is super exciting.

I cannot wait to take Christine to see some of the places I have already been and seeing some new ones too. Experiencing this with Christine is gonna be super special.

Nathan is going to stay home, and we also have Christine's sisters staying while we are gone too, so he has plenty of support around him.
Nathan doesn't start uni till just after we come back which is pretty convenient.

5th February

On Thursday 5th February 2026 my mother in law drew her final breath on this earth. She often spoke of her desire to go to heaven, and on this day her wish was finally granted. Now in a place where there is no pain or suffering she is with her Lord and Savoiur.

As part of our trip planning we discussed with Christines parents about contingency plans should Christine's mother pass shortly before we left or while we were away. It was their strong wishes, that should anything happen that we should proceed with our planned trip.

Therefore we continue to plan/prepare for our trip - we are due to fly out on 9th Feb, so just a few more days! We know that it will be challenging, however we trust that this is how it was supposed to be.

What next?

Tomorrow we have the funeral director coming over, so we will know more around how this is going to work, at this stage the plan is that the funeral will be held after we return.

We've still got a bit to do to get ready for the trip - so the next few days will go by very quickly.
