Day 0 - Leaving NZ

Day 0 - Leaving NZ

Today was a bit of a weird day - We had a few things left to organise, and some normal every day life stuff to do.

I also had to be at the airport later in the evening for my flight, but for the rest of the day there wasn’t a huge amount that needed to be done.

After we went to Kmart for some final bits n bobs we had lunch, did groceries and went back home. I double checked that everything I needed was in my bags, worried about bags being too heavy etc, then decided that it would be a good chance to have a nap before heading off to the airport - I think that was a good idea!

After having a nap I walked the dog and we loaded the bags into the car and headed off to the airport with plenty of time to spare. Not too far from home the car beeped at us cos one of the bags was on the back seat, and it was being detected as a person who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. We pulled over on the side of the road and sorted that out, and then thought it might be a good chance to double check that I had my passport (which we did).

We continued our trip towards the airport without too much issue. We had planned to have a light dinner near the airport, so we had some Taco Bell and Maccas.

When we went to go to the airport short term parking we had an issue with the GPS trying to send us down a road that was for authorised vehicles only, and then also when we got to the airport area I when towards the drop off area rather than the parking area, so we had to go around to get to the parking.

Once parked it was a quick 5 min walk to the airport, and check in was already open. I was pleased that I was able to interact with a human to complete checkin (was a bit nervous, its been a long time since I have flown internationally).

Check in went smoothly, and I was given two boarding passes, one for AKL -> Singapore, and the other Singapore -> Cebu. My checked luggage also came in under the max weight, and I confirmed I was good to go with my two carry on bags.

We headed up stairs, and chilled and chatted for a bit, and then I headed through security/customs. The larger of my two bags was flagged for some reason, but the guy who had to check it just looked at the photo and told me it was good to go.

I walked through the duty free area - there are a LOT of fancy looking shops there, quite a bit of it was closed cos it was late at night. I grabbed a bottle of water, and sat down somewhere, and while waiting wrote this post.

I had to get on the plane which is why this post is being loaded now 😄
