For KING & COUNTRY
On Thursday 16h May I got to go to the "For King and Country" concert in Auckland at the eventfinda stadium here in the North Shore.
For King & Country is a duo who emigrated to the United States as children, and grew up in the USA. They have made a movie, and have another one coming out soon in NZ.
Joel & Luke have a passion for helping children in need, - when they were young they also experienced times in their lives when they essentially had nothing. So they frequently partner with Compassion international and at their concerts they take time out to talk about their experience, and give people the opportunity to sponsor kids.
A few weeks before the concert in a group chat there was a request for assistance in handing out child profiles at the concert, and I put my hand up for that. I'd only recently heard about this duo perhaps a few weeks before this, but once I knew I was gonna be at the concert I started listening to their music a bit, so that hopefully I would know a few of their songs while I was there.
I arrived at the stadium at around 5.45pm so that I could join the group of other volunteers. At that time the parking was already fairly full, but I managed to get one of the last spots in the carpark.
I headed to the entrance of the stadium and went inside and upstairs. Once upstairs I got a yellow teeshirt to put on - this would make us easily identifiable later when we were handing out profiles

We got a briefing on how things would work, when to go out and stand in the aisles, where to stand etc etc. We also got shown where we could sit and watch the concert while we waited.

When the time came I went to my designated spot with the profiles I'd been given... I managed to hand them all out, and an extra 14 or so... During the intermission I collected two of the cards I handed out - the rest were collected by others, or handed back later on during the night.
After the intermission we could either go home, or head back up to where we were before and watch the rest of the concert, which is what I decided to do.
I really enjoyed the concert, the story tellling from Joel & Luke, and the general atmosphere. I also found out during the concert that Rebecca St. James is the sister of Joel and Luke... Wait for me by Rebecca St. James was our wedding song that Christine walked up the aisle to.
Click on the links below if you want to check out the two movies they have made.

Here are some random photos and videos that I took during the concert - apparently taking good photos in the semi dark from far away is difficult!

It took me over 30 mins to get out of the carpark after the concert finished, but I still got home before 10pm, so thats not bad for a school night.
Tearfund together with the help of for King and Country sponsored 330 kids during the course of their concerts in New Zealand. You can see the tearfund on their facebook page here
I really enjoyed this concert - perhaps I should go to more different concerts in the future.
